The Order Rocks ICC: Part 5

At last we come to it, the final installment of The Order Rocks ICC. The climax of the battle was truly spectacular, worthy of even the best old world content. The third phase of the fight was similar to the second phase, with the added effect that Arthas occasionally attempted to seal a player's soul within Frostmourn. I was fortunate enough to be one of those whom this happened to (if fortune is having your soul sucked out, that is).

The interior of Frostmourn is a frozen arena where the soul of King Terenas, formerly of Lorderon, is struggling against an arcane manifestation. The goal for the player is either to destroy the menace attacking the king before it can kill the king, or else heal the king enough so that he can kill it. Once this is done, the player is freed from Frostmourn to continue the battle. Unfortunately the fight was rather hectic by this point and I only had time to snap a quick screen shot of the interior of Frostmourn which, while it looks neat, isn't terribly descriptive. Even with this brief pause I barely killed the arcane beast in time.

Finally, at 10% of his health remaining, Arthas simply kills everyone. That's it. Dead.

We all lay there, eagerly anticipating the final stretch of this epic battle as the Lich King gloated over his prize: the best heroes that Azeroth had to offer. Those who had defeated his strongest champions. We were his for reanimation and service.

The reanimation began...

Tirion Fordring broke free of his bonds just in time to save us. Even as the Lich King channeled his necromantic energies towards raising each of us as his deadliest, most powerful servants, Tirion called upon the Light for a final burst of strength and broke free of the icy prison that the Lich King had encased him in.

With a mighty blow of the Ashbringer (still my favorite sword in the game) he shattered Frostmourn, freeing the trapped souls within.

The souls were not pleased with the Lich King.

To the very last, the Lich King fought, but at this point it was a hopeless battle. With Frostmourn gone, much of his offensive power was diminished. It was a dps race as he fought in desperation.

Yet his resistance was in vain, for we are the champions of Azeroth. We laid him low and finally brought down the vaunted Lich King. The Order had Triumphed. The final cinematic and the result of this titanic struggle I shall leave for those who have not seen it to find for themselves, whether through beating the Lich King or through Youtube. But it was amazing.

We got some good guild screen shots, gathered around the fallen corpse of our foe. The effort put into this fight and its challenge even at level 85 made this victory after some solid progression raiding every bit worth the effort.

Congratulations Order of the Triad!
